National Leadership Of The APC Affirm Ajimobi As Interim Chairman

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – In reaction to the declaration by the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Victor Gaidom, of himself as the Acting National Chairman of the party, following the suspension of the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, by a Federal Appeal Court in Abuja, the party’s National Working Committee(NWC) has affirmed Senator Abiola Ajimobi as the recognized Acting National Chairman.

According to a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the party’s national leadership had decided, following an emergency meeting, attended by 16 members of the NWC, that Ajimobi, the party’s Deputy National Chairman, South, should function as the party’s interim national chairman, pending the conclusion of the substantive national chairman’s legal issues.

In a rather bizarre twist, Victor Gaidom, Deputy National Secretary, had declared himself National Chairman of the party, citing an earlier High Court order directing him to assume the position, consequent to Oshiomhole’s initial suspension by the court, which, according to him could not be immediately effected, following the stay of order obtained by Oshhiomole, but which had been restored following ratification of Oshiomhole’s suspension by the Appeal Court in Abuja, on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
