Obaseki Finally Dumps APC, Following Meeting With Pres. Buhari

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Following a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, on Tuesday, June 16, 2020,  Godwin Obaseki, the embattled Governor of Edo State, has formally announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obaseki had promised his supporters that he would inform them of his next move after meeting with the president today, following his disqualification by the party’s screening committee from seeking a second term under its banner, on the grounds that his higher school and NYSC certificates were defective.

Governor Obaseki, whose disqualification is reportedly linked to his disagreement with his political godfather turned adversary, the APC’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, had been meeting with  governors and other bigwigs of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in moves that are believed to be dress rehearsals for his formal defection from the APC.
