Edo Apc Primaries: Appeals Committee Ratifies Obaseki’s Disqualification

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Governor Godwin Obaseki’s disqualification by the All Progressives Congress’ screening committee from participating in the Edo State gubernatorial Primary has been ratified by the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Appeals Committee.

The committee disclosed this via a press briefing in Abuja on Saturday, June 13, 2020, saying that it was aligning with the screening committee’s failure to authenticate Governor Obaskei’s National Youth Service Corps NYSC) Certificate.

Following the committee’s announcement, Adams Oshiomhole, APC’s National Chairman, announced that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) would proceed to confer on the screening report, in order to make a final decision and thereafter address the media.

On Friday, June 12, 2020, Governor Obaseki was disqualified from contesting for the APC governorship ticket in the forthcoming election by the party screening committee, which sited discrepancies in the governor’s academic documents. Obaseki has rejected the committee’s report, but has chosen not to appeal it.
