The author-son of the late media mogul and Africa’s pillar of sports was speaking as a guest on Channels Television on Friday, June 12, 2020.

According to Jamiu, the only way Nigerian leaders can prove that they are champions of democracy was by practicing what  MKO preached, and not just by publicly eulogizing him every June 12.”

June 12, a watershed date in Nigeria’s checkered political history, was declared the official date for the official commemoration of the country’s Democracy Day, which was initially marked on May 29, by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018, in remembrance and honour of the heroics of the late Chief Moshood, Kashimawo  Olawale Abiola, the presumed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993, Presidential Election.
