Democracy Day: There Is No Magic In Democracy, It Is A Process That Develops With Time – Senate President

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Democracy is a process that grows with time, according to the Senate President, Mr Ahmad Lawan, who said this in a statement on Thursday, June 11, 2020, while congratulating Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s Democracy Day.

According to Lawan, June 12 had become the country’s symbol for free, fair and credible polls, a reminder to Nigerians of the day they concertedly rose above primordial considerations to express their collective will to choose.

Mr. Lawan expressed hope that the collective display of patriotism by Nigerian voters on June 12 would continue to inspire future generations on the need to continue standing on the path of patriotism in future political contests, adding that Nigerians now had the ability to govern their country and achieve their national objectives, consequent to the experiences garnered so far, and calling on Nigerians to see democracy as a means to an end, hence, the need to eschew violence in the pursuit of democratic goals.
