We Must Be Prepared For The Next Pandemic – Boss Mustapha

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Mr Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SFG), and Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF), has called for the development of Nigeria’s internal capacity to handle future pandemics, consequent to the experiences garnered from the ongoing global COVID-19 crisis, urging the authorities to develop local capacity in readiness for future emergencies.

The SGF made this submission while making his remarks at the routine press briefing session of the PTF in Abuja, on Monday, June 7, 2020.

Mustapha, while disclosing that the PTF was at the National Reference Laboratory to observe the processes of COVID-19 testing on Saturday, June 5, 2020, expressed his satisfaction with the process, lauding the healthcare professionals for their sacrificial contributions to the country’s ongoing war on COVID-19.

While recounting the activities and achievements of the PTF in the last hundred days, Mustapha noted that COVID-19 figures in the country had continued to escalate, despite efforts by government and health authorities to check its continued spread, urging Nigerians to have a change in attitude by adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines and protocols to complement the efforts of the authorities in stemming the further spread of the disease.
