#Coronavirus: 16 Persons Convicted For Violating Guidelines In Edo

By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – 16 persons have been convicted by a mobile court sitting in Benin City for violating Section 8 (6)(C) of State Dangerous Infectious Disease (Emergency Prevention) Regulations 2020, put in place by the Edo State Government to stem the further spread of COVID-19 in the state.

The Presiding Magistrates, Mrs. Igho Braimoh and Okunrobo F. E, convicted the violators for flouting the government’s order on the obligatory use of face mask for personal protection and the protection of others from COVID-19 infection, ordering them to  perform between two to three days of compulsory community service, involving grass cutting for between two to three hours at Evboriaria Magistrate Court Compound; High Court premises and Golf Course Road by Government House, and to pay a fine of between N2000 to N5000.
