By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The death has been announced of Reggae music legend, Nigeria’s Majekodunmi Fasheke, whose stage name was Majek Fashek, following a long drawn battle with ill-health.
Majek’s manager, Omenka Uzoma, made the sad announcement via Instagram on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. According to his post the “legendary icon” had gone to be with the Lord, his maker. He called on Majek’s fans to celebrate him and his achievements, adding that the public would be kept abreast of developments as they unfold.
Majek Fashek, aka “Rainmaker”, was, until his death, one of Nigeria’s leading lights in the music industry. His unique brand of reggae music, “kpangolo”, took the music world by storm in the eighties and nineties. Tracks like “religion is politics”, “send down the rain”, “Holy Spirit” and several others redefined the perception of Nigeria nay African music across the globe.
The late Fashek, who had been battling health issues before his demise, was aged 57.
