Provide Spending Details Of Loans Obtained By Your Administration Since 2015 – SERAP Tasks Buhari’s Govt

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Accountability watchdog, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to make public spending details of all loans obtained since the inception of his administration on May 29, 2015.

This charge was contained in a letter addressed to the Commander-in-chief dated May 30, 2020, in which SERAP called for a probe into how all the loans obtained since the Buhari-led administration came to power, consequent to widespread allegations of graft and impropriety, in addition to publicizing all loans obtained by previous administrations, the countries that granted the loans and the repayment conditions.

SERAP is of the conviction that openness on the part of government will ensure that loans obtained are not stolen by corrupt public officials, increase public confidence, and improve the confidence of the country’s creditors, adding that the president should reduce the country’s debt burden by cutting the cost of governance
