#COVID-19 Briefs: Rate Of Infections In Nigeria Exceed 10,000, As 307 Fresh Cases Are Recorded

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCC) has confirmed that total COVID-19 cases in Nigeria have spiraled beyond the the 10, 000 mark, with the confirmation of 307 fresh infections across the country.

Breakdown of the latest figures of COVID-19 in Nigeria, which are spread across 14 states, including the FCT, are as follows: Lagos-188, FCT-44, Ogun-19, Kaduna-14, Oyo-12, Bayelsa-9, Gombe-5, Kano-3, Delta-3, Imo-2, Rivers-2, Niger-2, Bauchi-2, Plateau-1, Kwara-1.

3007 patients have been discharged, having recovered while 287 fatalities have been recorded in Nigeria since the outbreak of the global pandemic.

The escalation in the number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria is an indication that the efforts by political and health authorities to check the spread of the virus have not been very effective, a disturbing development that necessitates a new approach.
