By Lilian Ogbonna (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Delta State Government has assured of early completion of all road construction projects in the state awarded by the Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa-led administration. This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, during an on-the-spot assessment visit of ongoing road projects in Ika South and North East Local Government Areas.
The ongoing roads and drains projects inspected by Augoye, include the 1.7km DDPA Hous¬ing Estate, Phase III Roads, the 3.449km adjoining street by Queen Streets both in Ika South Local Government Area and the 10.17 km Alihame/ Agbonta/ Oki Road from Old Lagos-Asaba Road in Ika South Local Government Area, the Efeizomo Road from Owa-Ekei/Owa-Ale¬ro Road by Old Abraka Road, Boji-Boji Owa, the 2.625km Con¬vent Road and some open drains projects in Ika North East local government area which emp¬ties rain water into the Orogodo River in Agbor.
Augoye confirmed that all the contractors handling projects for the ministry were on ground doing their jobs, lauding them for adhering to set specifications in the execution of their projects, and asking them to correct the minor defects noticed. He, however, challenged the companies executing the projects to speed up the tempo of work to avoid the heavy rains, stressing the state government’s desire to deliver the projects in line with the set standards, specifications and date.
