#COVID-19 Briefs: Infections Burgeon To 9,855, As Nigeria Records 553 Fresh Cases, Highest Single-Day Infections


By Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nigeria recorded its highest single-day COVID-19 infections with the confirmation of 500 new cases on Saturday, May, 30, 2020, by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on it verified Twitter handle, which takes the total number of infections in the country to 9, 855 cases since the outbreak of the global pandemic.

Breakdown of the new cases, which are spread across 14 states of the federation, are as follows: Lagos-378, FCT-52, Delta-23, Edo-22, Rivers-14, Ogun-13, Kaduna-12, Kano-9, Borno-7, Katsina-6, Jigawa-5, Oyo-5, Yobe-3,Plateau-3, Osun-1.

2856 patients have been discharged, having recovered from the ailment, while 273 fatalities have been suffered by the country since the outbreak of the pandemic.
