Recruitment of 774,000 Nigerians Will Cost FG N46.44 Trillion – Lai Mohammed

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The federal Government plans to spend a lump sum of N46,440,000,000 to employ 774,000 Nigerian youths for three months under the Special Public Works programme, according to Alhaji Lai Mohammed. Nigeria’s Information and Culture minister.

Alhaji Mohammed, who made the disclosure during a press briefing to mark President Buhari’s second term in office on Frriday, May 29, 2020, said that each of the youths will be paid a N20,000 monthly allowance meant to mitigate the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also used the opportunity presented by the occasion to announce that the country’s apex anticorruption watchdogs, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission (ICPC) and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) effected 1,295 convictions in the last one year.
