(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Champions League final could be moved from Istanbul as the Turkish city will struggle to make up the cost of hosting the event without travelling fans.
UEFA will host its rescheduled meeting on June 17 to decide what happens to the competition with several proposals on the table, including all remaining games being played in one place.
The Independent report that is considered the most workable solution with the tournament completed in August.
Istanbul was set to host the showpiece final on May 30 but the report claims there have been talks between the host city and UEFA as the absence of travelling fans means they would not be able to make a return on their investment.
Officials are thought to be continually monitoring developments regarding continental air travel as to whether games will be able to take place home and away and how away goals could work.
All remaining matches taking place in the same country could prove to be the easiest scenario.
