Yahaya Bello Defeats PDP’s Idris Wada At Tribunal For 2nd Time

Olivia Isibor (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has defeated Idris Wada of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the Kogi Governorship Election Tribunal for the second time, consequent to the dismissal of a case filed by Wada against his election.

The verdict was delivered by a three man panel of judges, headed by Justice Ibrahim Kaigama in Abuja, on Saturday, May 23, 2020. Wada’s petition was dismissed for lacking merit. The complainant was also asked to pay N500,000 as costs to the APC and INEC for his frivolous claims.

Yahaya Bello polled 406,222 of the total votes cast to Musa Wada’s 189,704 votes to clinch victory in the November 16, 2019 Election. Wada, however, has promised to appeal the judgment at the Appeal Court to supposedly reclaim his “stolen mandate”.
