Stop Buying Hydroxychloroquine To Treat COVID-19, SGF Warns Nigerians

By Franca Joseph (AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nigerians should refrain from purchasing hydroxychloroquine in large quantities to treat COVID-19, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has warned, saying the drug had not been certified for use.

Mr. Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the PTF and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), reeled out the PTF’s warning during the routine media briefing of the task force in Abuja, Thursday, May 21, 2020.

The PTF arrowhead disclosed that they had received intelligence reports that some Nigerians were buying up large quantities of hydroxychloroquine from pharmaceutical shops across the country to threat COVID-19, saying that relevant health authorities had not certified them for the treatment of the ailment.

Mustapha warned that self-medication posed serious health risks for those indulging in it, advising any sick person to consult a medical doctor rather than resorting to self-medication.
