(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Local claims of COVID-19 cure are still being examined, according to Nigeria’s Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, who disclosed this at the quarterly management meeting of the Ministry and its agencies in Abuja on Monday, May 18, 2020.

According to Onu, all submissions for the Covid-19 cure have been directed to the Academy of Science for verification as well as recommendation to the Ministry.

Reaffirming the Ministry’s resolve to develop local remedies to help manage Covid-19, Onu assured Nigerians that promising samples had been put forward and that he was hopeful that a breakthrough was in the offing, adding that the country had to be introspective in its search for a cure for the disease in order to become an exporter of its remedy to other countries.

Agenda Watchdog recalls that sometime in March, 2020, the Ministry had offered a N36 Million cash reward to any Scientist in the country who could produce a cure for Covid-19 and Lassa fever.
