(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – In a statement issued by the Akwa Ibom State Information Commissioner, Charles Udoh, on Sunday, May 17, 2020, ten vehicles donated to the Akwa Ibom State Government by transnational oil giant ExxonMobil, to assist in contact tracing of suspected COVID-19 patients in the state, have been rejected by the state government because they are weather beaten.

However, Udoh stated that the government had accepted the hospital beds and two ambulances donated by the oil giant, while, appreciating the unflinching support of prominent individuals and private sector players for the state’s efforts to check the further spread of COVID-19.

The rejection of the vehicles was rather surprising, as the state had earlier on Friday, May 15, 2020, commended ExxonMobile for the donation of the said vehicles and other items.
