(AGENDAWATCDOG) – The Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers on Saturday. May 16, 2020, asked President Muhammadu Buhari, to repeal the order on the movement of agricultural produce, livestock, goods and services in Rivers State by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu.
This is coming in the wake of the setting up of a Joint Technical Task Force by the IGP at the instance of the Federal Ministries of Agricultural and Rural Development, Defence, Environment, alongside some security agencies, to supposedly ease transportation of food, livestock, agricultural inputs and others into the State.
King Dandeson Jaja, State Chairman of the Council, expressed the puzzlement of the council at the unilateral decision of the IGP in suspending the Presidential subsisting ban on interstate movement of of person, trucks and other vehicles across state borders, except those on essential duties, stating that the IGP’s action constituted a threat to the health and security of the citizens of the state.
