By Franca Joseph, For Agenda Watchdog, May 16, 2020

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – A purported secret bank account belonging to the Ondo State Government, containing the sum of N4.3billion, is being investigated by the State House of assembly, which is accusing the administration of Rotimi Akeredolu of withdrawing and spending the money, which was saved by one of the previous administrations, without legislative approval.

In its determination to get to the root of the matter, the Commissioner for Finance, Wale Akinterinwa, and Accountant General of the State, Laolu Akindolire, have been asked to come before the House with documents containing details of the transactions, together with the accrued interests, to explain how the executive was able to bypass legislative approval to withdraw the money in question.

The state legislature would like to know how  the account has been operated, who approved the opening of the account, who the account signatories are, why the said  money was moved from its initial Zenith Bank account through six different state government accounts within five months, commencing form February, 2018, to June, 2018, and the accrued interests for over ten years.
