Evacuation: We Are Overstretched, Aviation Minister says, As Number of Evacuees In In Lagos And Abuja Exceed 600

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nigeria is getting overstretched as it grapples with the onerous challenge of evacuating its nationals stranded in other parts of the world.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama made this disclosure on Monday, May 11, 2020, while making his remarks at the routine briefing session of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

According to Onyeama, Nigerians stranded in Dubai, UK and New York, had been successfully evacuated, adding, however, that the  logistical mistakes that resulted in the transportation of passengers to Abuja would be avoided in the future. He said that over 600 returnees were currently in Lagos and Abuja, pushing the process to breaking point, adding that fresh evacuations would only be made after the ones on ground had been attended to
