Our Isolation Centres Are Overstretched – Boss Mustapha

By Olivia Isibor, For Agenda Watchdog, May 10, 2020

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Nigeria is fast running out of isolation and treatment centres for COVID-19 patients, according to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, while speaking at the routine briefing session of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja.

Mr. Mustapha said that the task force had received reports suggesting that some states were running short of bed spaces. He, however, said that there were contingency arrangements to make up for expected shortfalls when the need arises.

The SGF acknowledged the increase in the daily number of infections in the country, attributing the development to the increase in the country’s general testing capacity. He expressed worry with the high level of noncompliance with the interstate lockdown order of the federal government, adding that the task force had asked security agencies to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
