#COVID-19: Four Out Of 11 Intercepted Travelers From Sokoto Test Positive

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Oyo State Government has confirmed that four out of the 11 travelers from Sokoto State who were  stopped by the police while trying to sneak into Akure, Ondo State, via Ibadan, Oyo State, are COVID-19 positive.

According to Dr Taiwo Ladipo, the state’s incident manager, and a member of the Oyo State task Force on COVID-19, Prof. Temitope Alonge, the four cases had been transferred to  the Olodo Infectious Diseases Centre for treatment.

Oyo State has 44 confirmed cases of COVID-19; 28 of these cases are active. Two fatalities have been recorded, while nine patients have been discharged.

Eleven travelers from Sokoto were intercepted over the weekend by the police at Ibadan, Oyo State, while trying to sneak into Akure, Ondo State. Governor Seyi Makinde had subsequently ordered that they be isolated pending release of their COVID-19 test results.
