(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – 265 Nigerians have arrived in Lagos today, May 6, 2020, from Dubai, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of the first batch of Nigerians stranded abroad to be evacuated amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Dubai returnees were flown to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport by Emirates Airlines.
Discussions are said to be ongoing to fly in more Nigerians awaiting evacuation from across the globe.
British Airways, Ethiopian Airlines are among some of the airlines being contacted to help evacuate Nigerians stranded abroad.
However, the ministry added that the Dubai returnees will be quarantined for 14 days, in accordance with the guidelines of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), as isolation centers had been put in place to quarter them on arrival.
