(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – The Edo State Government has accused erstwhile governor of the state and incumbent National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of violating the guidelines on social distancing meant to check the further spread of COVID-19 in the state by organizing political meetings in the state through the Edo Peoples Movement (EPM).
Conveying the stand of the state government on the matter, the Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie and the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, said that the purported meeting christened “APC faction mock primary”, supposedly held at Lucky Imasuens’s house, was “reprehensible”, “Callous” and “selfish” as it was held without given due consideration to the health risks such a gathering posed to the public amid efforts by government to stem the further spread of the coronavirus in the country.
The Edo State Government posited that the continued holding of covert and overt meetings by Oshiomhole and his supporters constituted illegalities that contravened the directives of the federal and state governments prohibiting large gatherings of any sort. The state government called on President Buhari to call Oshiomhole to order to prevent him from further factionalizing and weakening the APC’s structure in Edo State.
