By Bonita Onyeka, For Agenda Watchdog, April 27, 2020

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – A weird twist was added to the #COVID-19 crisis in the country as two confirmed cases of the virus took to their heels on learning of their positive status at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Borno State. The patients are Abbas Kaka Hassan, a 24-year-old male of Layin Tanki in Gwange 11, and Hauwa Mohammed, a 42-year-old female from Shuwari Ward.

The development was disclosed in a press briefing by Dr Salisu Kwayabura, Honourable Commissioner for Health and Secretary to the State Response Team for the Prevention and Control of #COVID-19, on Sunday, April 26, 2020.

Salisu said efforts were being made to trace the fleeing patients. While advising individuals in the state to continue adhering to World Health Organization (WHO) prescribed preventive measures such as social distancing, regular washing of hands, use of sanitizers and wearing of face masks, he also advised anyone who tested positive to the virus not to panic as arrangements had been made to care for them.
