By Olivia Isibor, For Agenda Watchdog, April 23, 2020

(AGENDA WATCHDOG) – As Muslim faithfuls in the country prepare to celebrate Ramadan, which commences on Friday, April 24, 2020, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State  has revealed plans by his government to splash N500 million on feeding alone. Towards this end, a committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Saidu Umar, as the Chairman, and former Permanent Secretary in the state ministry of Religious Affairs, Bello Mailato, as Secretary, has been set up. Security agencies and the Ministry of Health would be each represented.

An excerpt from Tambuwal’s statement reads: “Unlike last year, there is significant rise in the amount to be spent from N380 million last year to N500 million this year, due to increase in the number of envisaged beneficiaries and the increase in the price of commodities.
