(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, is asking for N15billion from the federal government to fight COVID-19 in his state. Ganduje premised his request on the grounds that Kano State was the most populated state in the country.
Ganduje said that the amount requested would help increase the state’s capacity to effectively fight COVID-19 through the setting up of more laboratories, as the existing one was inadequate, hiring the services of qualified health personnel and procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
On the reports of mass deaths in the media, Ganduje said such reports were in error as only 13 cases of deaths from other ailments were confirmed, following investigation by his government.
Just a few days after it recorded its first case, Kano State, Nigeria’s second most populous state, after Lagos State, has sporadically risen on the charts of COVID-19 ravished States in Nigeria, with 73 fresh cases of the virus.
