COVID-19:Kano Deports 400 Almajiris To Katsina

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – In continuation of it deportation progamme for Almajiris in Kano State, as part of efforts to stem the further spread of COVID-19 in the state, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, deported 400 Almajiris to  Katsina State on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. The deportees were received at Gidan Mutum Daya, the border between both states by  Mustapha Inuwa, Secretary to the Katsina State Government.

According to Inuwa, the Almajiris were returned to their families in 23 Local Government Areas of the state, since Katsina State had also closed down its own Qur’ anic schools or ‘Tsangaya”.

Governor Ganduje had earlier obtained legislative assent to the “Kano State Infectious Diseases Regulation Law 2020” which gives him wide powers to deport Almijiris, close down places of worship, event centres, markets and other public places, and take actions that are meant to safeguard public health in Kano State.
