(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – In a bid to check community transmission of COVID-19, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Health, Adeleke Mamora, has advised that the use of locally made face masks would be helpful at the community level. He said that face masks have been scientifically proven to help in the prevention of respiratory tract diseases.

Mamora stated this on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, in Abuja, during the routine  briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19. He also spoke on the need for Nigerians to continue observing social distancing and other hygienic practices as they were crucial aspects of the war on COVID-19. While disclosing that 13 laboratories for sample testing were currently in use, he said that more laboratories would be accredited soon. He thanked health professionals for their inputs into the ongoing war efforts.
