By Bonita Onyeka, For Agenda Watchdog, April 21, 2020

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – National Coordinator, Presidential Taskforce on COVID19, Dr Sani Aliyu, has revealed that people cannot get infected by the corpses of persons who die from COVID-19.  Dr. Aliyu disclosed this on Monday, April 20, 2020, while speaking during the routine briefing of the taskforce.

According to Aliyu, there is no scientific evidence to prove that persons who died from COVID-19 have infected anybody. His clarification was coming in the wake of widespread condemnations the federal government had received from the public following seeming brazen disregard of social distancing rules by Presidency staff who dominated the crowd of attendees at the funeral ceremony of the late Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Mr. Abba Kyari on Saturday, April 18, 2020.

In reaction to public outrage at the lax behaviour of the public officials at Kyari’s burial, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC), had quickly reiterated the need for ALL Nigerians to continue abiding by social distancing rules, especially those concerning burials.
