(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Boko Haram, the fundamentalist Islamist terrorist organization operating in Nigeria’s North-East region is experiencing battle fatigue, hence its resort to seeking for mediators to help broker a ceasefire between it and the Nigerian military. This was disclosed by Major General John Enenche, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations.
According to General Eneche Boko Haram’s Olive Branch may not be unconnected with the series of recent defeats it has been experiencing on the battle field, coupled with plans by the Nigerian military to launch a massive onslaught on its positions in Sambisa Forest. He said that the large number of the sect’s members who had recently surrendered to the Nigerian military was a pointer to its premonition of impending disaster. Intelligence sources in the theater of war have revealed that the sect’s leader, Abubakir Sheakau was desperately seeking for avenues to peacefully surrender to Nigerian authorities, having grown frustrated with the struggle for an elusive Islamic state.
