(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – A serving Senator of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Ndume, has accused the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouq, of fraud in the distribution of palliatives to Nigeria’s poor and vulnerable. Ndume accused the disbursement committee of working with a phantom list for, as he said, the list was falsely generated to steal money meant for the poor. The Senator also asked for the immediate dissolution of the Humanitarian committee charged with the distribution of welfare packages to Nigeria’s poor as it was working contrary to the good intentions of government to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians as occasioned by the lockdown put in place to stem the further spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
The Senator lambasted the minister for her incompetence in managing the operations of the Humanitarian committee and urged President Muhammadu Buhari to set up a competent body that would be able to properly coordinate the disbursement of welfare packages to poor and vulnerable Nigerians as the war on COVID-19 rages on.
