At Least 14 Burnt To Death As Fire Guts Borno IDP Camp

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – There were tragic scenes at an internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, the epicenter of the Boko Haram insurgency, as at least 14 people were roasted in an inferno that engulfed the camp on Thursday, April 16, 2020. President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed the incident and casualty figures.

According Shehu, the President was in mourning following the sad incident and had ordered the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, to immediately probe the immediate and background causes of the sad episode in order to avoid a repeat of such a disaster in the future. He also ordered that some form of assistance be provided for the victims of the disaster.
