(AGENDAWATCGDOG) – A blazing inferno today, Friday, April 17, 2020, gutted a section of the Abuja headquarters of Nigeria’s principal electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The sad news was broken by the commission’s National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, Mr Festus Okoye. According to Okoye, the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction in the office of the Director of Electoral and Party Monitoring. He also said that the fire, which affected the Department of Electoral and Party Monitoring, did not cause any serious damage as no sensitive material was destroyed by it. The fire had been put out as at the time of writing this report.
