Buhari’s COVID-19 Speech, Disappointing – PDP

By Franca Joseph, For Agenda Watchdog, April 14, 2020

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) – Former ruling party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has punctured cavernous holes in President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech on COVID-19. The party made its views on the President’s speech known through a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan.

According to the PDP, the president’s speech was disappointing, as it failed to address the issue of palliatives for the “ordinary Nigerians as they faced hunger and economic pangs of the lock-down”. ThePDP asked the federal government to provide documents showing the households that have so far benefited from its much-vaunted social intervention program, which it described as “total incapacity and fraud”. It blamed the unrest in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja on the lock-down, and advised the federal government to disburse monies meant for distribution as palliatives to the states for onward distribution to the poor as the states understood their terrain better than the federal government.
