COVID-19: Maintain Social Distancing – Lagos State Govt To Religious Bodies

(AGENDAWATCHDOG) In continuing efforts aimed at witling down the spread of COVID-19, the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State Government has called on religious organizations in Lagos State to suspend all religious congregations for now to complement efforts being made by governments at all levels and health authorities in checking the further spread of the deadly disease. The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Olanrewaju Elegushi, who made the plea on behalf of the state government on Saturday, April 11, 2020, appealed for the continued cooperation of religious bodies in Lagos State as the battle against the menacing infections disease rages on. The commissioner revealed that the state government had commenced the disinfection of some worship centers in the state, adding that plans were already in the pipeline to train heads of religious body on how to keep their places of worship sanitized.  Mr. Olarenwaju wished Christians in the state “happy Easter” celebrations, but advised them to have a low-key celebration by adhering to social distancing regulations throughout the period of the festivities.
