Consequent to the formal arrival of a 15-member Chinese Medical delegation in Nigeria, from China, on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, to help out in the war on COVID-19, Nigeria’s chief opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), through its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, has raucously called on Nigerians and the global community to blame President Muhammadu Buhari for any eventual backlash from the arrival of the expatriate medical personnel.
In the PDP’s view, the Federal Government of Nigeria ignored warnings from Nigerians and several professional bodies in the health sector on the attendant risks in inviting medical personnel from the index country of the pandemic. For the PDP, Nigerian doctors should have been allowed to continue the great job they were already doing.
The 15-man Chinese Medical team consists of experts in infectious diseases, respiratory illness, intensive care, cardiology, neurology, general surgery and anesthesiology.
