Breaking: Delta Records First COVID-19 Case

By Olivia Isibor

Delta State is the latest entrant into the list of states in Nigeria grappling with the dreaded COVID-19 as the state has recorded its first confirmed case of the dreaded virus.

This was revealed on the twitter handle of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC). Delta’s case is among the sixteen new cases confirmed today, Teusday, April 7, 2020, by the NCDC:10 in Lagos, two in the FCT, two in Oyo, one in Delta and one in Katsina.

Delta State which was among the few States that had hitherto not recorded any case of the dreaded virus now joins other states in the country battling to contain the further spread of the virus.

There is currently a sit-at-home order in Delta State as part of proactive efforts by the state government to prevent the spread of the virus into the state, but having recorded its first case of the disease, new measures would certainly be put in place, taking the new realities into perspective.
