The Delta State Government has stated that the stay-at-home order by the government as part of measures to check the spread of COVID-19 to the state from other states is not a punitive measure against the residents of the state, but a necessary move that was for the well-being of the people.
Mr. Chiedu Ebie, Secretary to the State Government, made this disclosure on Sunday, April 5, 2020, during a monitoring exercise of the enforcement of the directive by the State Task Force in Asaba.
The Secretary used the opportunity to appeal to Deltans to comply with the directive from the state government as it is in their best interest to do so.
Consequent to the increasing cases of the novel coronavirus in some part of Nigeria, the Delta State Government has taken proactive measures to prevent a possible outbreak and spread of the virus in the state. The sit-at-home order is one of such steps.
Delta State is one of the few states in the country that is yet to record any case of the dreaded COVID-19.
