Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Lagos State Governor and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has joined the list of donors to Nigeria’s war on COVID-19, with the donation of N200 Million to the cause.

The former governor of Lagos State, wrote on his official twitter handle on Sunday, that the donation was meant to bolster the efforts of the Lagos State Government and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in the country’s war on the pandemic.

He noted that the coronavirus had disrupted plans for the celebration of his annual birthday. In his words, ”We could not do so this year but by God’s grace we will do so again

”The circumstances this year prevent us from gathering together to celebrate my birthday, but I would still like to mark the occasion. ”That is why I have chosen today to announce that I will be making a donation of N200 million to fight this deadly virus. ”In pursuant to this pledge, N100 million will be made available to the government of Lagos State and another N100 million to NCDC to support their efforts in fighting the scourge of COVID-19

”Together, we will overcome this disease,”.

Senator Tinubu joins a growing list of prominent Nigerians and corporate entities who have thrown their financial weight behind ongoing efforts by governments at all levels and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in the war on the deadly COVID-19 Pandemic.
