Philanthropy: Adenuga Donates N1.5 Billion To The War On Covid-19

The Mike Adenuga Foundation (MAF), a brainchild of billionaire, Dr Mike Adenuga Jr., founder of Nigeria’s second national carrier in the telecommunications industry, Globacom, on Monday, March 30, 2020, donated the sum of N1.5 billion to support ongoing efforts to check the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the country.

In a report by tbiAfrica, Mrs Bella Disu, the daughter of the billionaire, presented a cheque for N500million to the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at his office at the State secretariat, Alausa, on behalf of the Foundation on Monday.

Again, another cheque for the sum of N1billion was presented to the Governor of the country’s apex financial institution, the Central Bank of Nigeria, which is coordinating fundraising by corporate organizations in Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, in Abuja, by a representative of the foundation.

According to the foundation, the presentations are being committed for the wellbeing of the entire Nigerian citizens especially at this time when the country is battling the Coronavirus pandemic.

It also commended the government, individuals and organisations for their efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

The individuals and corperate organisations had made various donations toward fighting the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Adenuga joins a list of prominent Nigerians and corporate bodies who have thrown their weight behind ongoing efforts by governments at all levels and health authorities to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
