COVID-19: Kaduna Govt Arrests Two Clerics For Conducting Service

In a bid to stem the spread of the coronavirus in the country, two Islamic clerics were arrested in Kaduna State on Saturday for violating the state’s public health preventive measures against the covid-19 by holding congregational prayers.

This development was announced by the Kaduna state government on its official twitter handle.

The erring cleric, “Malam Aminu Umar Usman and Malam Umar Shangel, would be formally prosecuted”, the statement said.

Two days earlier, the state government had announced a 24-hour indefinite curfew, commencing from midnight of Thursday.

The state’s residents have been directed by the state Deputy Governor, Hadiza Balarabe, to stay indoors from dusk to dawn as part of steps to check the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
