Nigeria Closes Land Borders For Four Weeks, as Covid-19 Spreads.


As part of measures geared towards checking the further spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria, the Federal Government of Nigeria on Monday March 23, 2020, ordered the closure of all Nigeria’s land borders for four weeks, and the suspension of Federal Executive Council (FEC) Meetings till further notice.

This directive was announced on Monday March 23, 2020, by Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and chairman Presidential Task Force on Coronavirus.

The closure of the country’s land borders is one in a series of steps by the Federal Government to check the spread of the virus. The increasing cases of the virus in the country has witnessed an acceleration in efforts by government and health authorities to check its further spread.
